SICSL Charter

  1. Suburban Industrial Co-ed Softball League ("The league") is comprised of teams sponsored by corporations located in and around West Chester, PA
  2. The league is registered with the Amatuer Softball Association of Pennsylvania ("ASA of PA"), District 6. The Competion Level is ASA of PA Level "D"
  3. The league is overseen by a Board of Directors ("The board"). The board is led by a Commissioner and an Assistant-Commissioner. The board will be comprised of players and coaches from the teams in the league in a particular season.
  4. The board or persons approved by the board will:
    Propose and vote on rules
    Hear all issues related to game competition including, but not limited to:
    Protests
    Greivances
    Scheduling concerns
    Write and manage the season and playoff game schedule
    Act as Treasurer to manage financial operations
    Act as a liason with owners or representatives of the primary playing fields used by the league
    including, but not limited to:
    QVC, Inc
    Electronics Boutique
    West Goshen Township
    Obtain and manage liability insurance
    Act as a liason with the Amatuer Softball Association - Umpire Association
    Manage the league website
  5. Representatives from the companies who own the primary playing fields the league will use have final say regarding decisions made by the board that may adversely reflect the integrity of the companies that own the fields including, but not limited to:
    Alcohol usage
    Player conduct
    Furthermore, the Representatives will have final say regarding decisions concerning company owned physical property adjacent to the field or actual playing surface of the field including, but not limited to:
    Field usage limited due to weather conditions
    Field usage limited due to company business needs
    Field usage limited due to maintenance
    Vehicle parking on company property
  6. A team must be comprised primarily of employees of the sponsoring company. 80% of the roster must be employees of the sponsoring company, or members of the immediate family of an employee of the sponsoring company. 20% may be non-employees but the talent level of non-employees should be representative of the competition level of the league.
  7. The league is co-ed. A game lineup must include at least two females playing fielding positions.
  8. Admission of new teams to the league will be decided on by vote of all members of the board.
  9. Removal of teams from the league due to inability to play a reasonable number of scheduled games, gross misconduct, or inappropriate competition level will be decided by vote of all members of the board.
  10. The league will follow the Official Rules of Softball, published by the Amatuer Softball Association.
  11. The league specifiaclly invokes Rule 12 - Use of ASA Playing Rules which states:
    "The ASA Softball Playing Rules shall only apply to ASA Championship play.
    The use of all or any part of such rules is strictly a local matter and
    such rules may be altered as league officials deem appropriate or necessary
    to conduct non-championship play."
  12. The league will charge an annual admission fee to be paid by teams. The amount will be proposed by the Treasurer and agreed upon by the board.
  13. The dues will be used to pay expenses including, but not limited to:
    ASA of PA Registration fees
    Liability Insurance
    Umpire game fees
    Softball and equipment costs
    Website and bank fees
